Daniel Esqueda, a 12th grade student at Aptos High School, will be appointed by the Pajaro Valley Unified School District board of trustees Wednesday as a student trustee.
In that role, Esqueda will be a liaison between students of the district and the board of trustees, working with a broader Student High Council to surface concerns and ideas.
In a release issued by the district, Esqueda is quoted saying he’ll prioritize “fostering an inclusive environment for every student in our district.
“My vision is to strengthen collaboration between adults and our youth and bridge the gap between students and our board, ensuring that our collective aspirations shape the future of our education,” he said.
PVUSD Superintendent Heather Contreras said Esqueda “brings the critical student perspective and a deep commitment to our school community.”
The PVUSD board of trustees will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Watsonville City Council Chambers.
