Property development

  • The Santa Cruz County Planning Department has formally approved a zoning application for a project at 410 Trout Gulch Road in Aptos as of February 12. The approved project will convert the existing two-story commercial building—previously used as a dental office—into a duplex, providing two residential apartment units. The building will be reconfigured to offer living spaces on both the first and second floors, with the lower level measuring 1,103 square feet and the upper level 580 square feet, on a 3,877-square-foot property. The project, which required an Administrative Use Permit, will not include fire sprinklers. Existing parking, driveways, and some open space will be retained, and the conversion will comply with current California building codes. (view application)

  • A permit application has been filed for a project at 855 POLO Ave., Aptos 95003-4116, proposing to split the existing 67,549 square foot property into two separate parcels: one measuring 41,476 square feet and the other 26,073 square feet. The project does not include any changes to the current use or operation of the existing telecommunication building on the site. Approval of a Tentative Map is required for this proposed subdivision.
