Property development
- The Santa Cruz County Planning Department has received a zoning application for a project at 413 Hillcrest Drive in the Aptos Planning Area. The proposal seeks to renew an existing permit for a two-bedroom non-hosted short-term rental at this address. If approved, the permit would continue to allow overnight lodging for periods of up to 30 days at a time. The renewal is subject to approval of a Non-Hosted Short-Term Rental Renewal Permit. Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region
- Starting overnight on August 2, the southbound Highway 1 off-ramp at Bay Avenue in Santa Cruz County (Capitola/Soquel area) will be closed for a long-term construction project. Crews are working on adding auxiliary lanes and bus improvements between the Bay Avenue/Porter Street and State Park Drive interchanges.
- There are alternating lane closures on both northbound and southbound Highway 9 at Pool Drive in San Lorenzo Valley because of bridge work. This is expected to continue until April 30, 2027, at 6:59 a.m.
- There is one-way traffic on Highway 9 at Cascade Avenue in San Lorenzo Valley because of ongoing work. The closure is expected to end at 7:01 a.m. on August 31.
- CHP helped with construction on northbound Highway 1 at Park in Capitola/Soquel. Units M1 and D2 were at the scene and planned to stay until about 6:00 a.m. The incident was reported yesterday.
