Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • Starting overnight on August 2, the southbound Highway 1 off-ramp at Bay Avenue in Santa Cruz County (Capitola/Soquel area) will be closed for a long-term construction project. Crews are working on adding auxiliary lanes and bus improvements between the Bay Avenue/Porter Street and State Park Drive interchanges.
     
  • There are alternating lane closures on both northbound and southbound Highway 9 at Pool Drive in San Lorenzo Valley because of bridge work. This is expected to continue until April 30, 2027, at 6:59 a.m.
     
  • There is one-way traffic on Highway 9 at Cascade Avenue in San Lorenzo Valley because of ongoing work. The closure is expected to end at 7:01 a.m. on August 31.
     
  • CHP helped with construction on northbound Highway 1 at Park in Capitola/Soquel. Units M1 and D2 were at the scene and planned to stay until about 6:00 a.m. The incident was reported yesterday.
     
  • Goats will be used to control weeds and reduce fire hazards along about 2 miles of the Santa Cruz Branch Rail Line in Santa Cruz County. This work started on July 22 and will take place in four locations, including clearing some drainage ditches to prevent clogging.
     
  • A ribbon-cutting event is happening at the Panther Beach Parking Lot in Santa Cruz County.
