Roadwork is affecting traffic near you

  • A single-car crash happened at Highway 1 and Dimeo Ln at 5:57 a.m. today. The driver may have fallen asleep, causing the car to leave the road and hit a tree. The car could not be seen from the road. The driver got out but could not get up and was found near some houses. Emergency services, including CAL FIRE, responded to the scene.
     
  • A hit and run happened at Highway 1 and Dimeo Ln at 3:08 a.m. today. A white sedan hit a parked car near a farm shack, and both the car and the building caught fire. Everyone got out safely, and no one was hurt. Emergency crews responded, and people living nearby were told to evacuate because of the fire. The incident was later confirmed as a hit and run with no injuries.
     

Property development

  • The Santa Cruz County Planning Department has received a zoning application for a project at 2309 Empire Grade, Santa Cruz 95060. The proposal involves installing an approximately 507 square foot ground-mounted solar array and storage system on the property. Approval of the project will require a Minor Coastal Development Permit. (view application)

Community crime report

  • A person was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, and it was not their first offense. The incident happened near SR-1 AND Davenport, Santa Cruz County at 1 a.m. on September 1. (source)
