Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • The on-ramp from Park Avenue to southbound Highway 1 is facing closures until Nov. 19 because of paving work.

  •  The southbound Highway 1 off-ramp at Bay Avenue is scheduled to be closed for approximately four months as crews reconstruct the ramp as part of the bus-on-shoulder facility. The closure began on Aug. 2.

Property development

  • The Santa Cruz County Planning Department is currently reviewing a zoning application for 4430 Portola Dr., where the applicant seeks to renew a permit for a two-bedroom, non-hosted short-term rental in an existing single-family home. The proposed rental would allow guests to stay for no more than 30 days at a time, and the application requests approval for continued operation under the county’s short-term rental regulations. Residents who wish to provide input or express concerns about this project must submit their public comments to the Planning Department by Oct. 12. (view application)
