Property development

  • The Santa Cruz County Planning Department is currently reviewing a zoning application for a proposed project at 393 Schwan Lake Dr., which would establish a new, three-bedroom non-hosted short-term rental. If approved, this permit would allow overnight lodging for stays of up to 30 days at a time. The project requires a Non-Hosted Short-Term Rental Permit, and the Planning Department will stop accepting public comments on this application after Sept. 21. (view application)

Community crime report

  • Police responded to an incident involving possession of drug paraphernalia, domestic battery, false imprisonment, and violations related to post-release community supervision. The incident happened near 701 Ocean St., Santa Cruz, at 2 p.m. on Aug. 17. (source)
