Hillary Ojeda has an update on the aftermath of the dozens of arrests at UC Santa Cruz in May 2024 as police broke up a pro-Palestine encampment. The statute of limitations has expired, and only one of the 122 protesters arrested has been charged.
The Watsonville City Council put the brakes this week on the appointment of a former Pajaro Valley Unified School District trustee to the city’s planning commission, Tania Ortiz reports. Councilmember Vanessa Quiroz-Carter raised objections to bringing Georgia Acosta aboard after a contentious tenure on PVUSD’s board, and a decision on the appointment was tabled.
