Property code violations

County officials cite property owners for issues such as substandard housing, illegal uses of buildings, property maintenance, abandoned appliances or furniture, construction without permits, and other issues that affect public safety and quality of life.

  • A code violation notice has been issued for the property located at 130 Pine St., Ben Lomond, under code compliance case NV25247. Processed on May 20, the case involves a building code violation due to the unpermitted conversion of a chicken coop into an accessory dwelling unit (ADU). This conversion was carried out without obtaining the necessary permits, resulting in a Notice and Order being issued to address the violation.

Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • South Highway 1 in Capitola/Soquel is facing closures for roadway excavation. The closure will end at 6:30 a.m. on August 29.

  • The northbound Highway 1 offramp at Soquel Drive in Capitola/Soquel was closed during the day on May 19 for construction. The work is part of a project to add auxiliary lanes and bus-on-shoulder improvements on Highway 1 between the 41st Avenue and Soquel Drive interchanges, and to help build a new bicycle and pedestrian overcrossing at Chanticleer Avenue.
