Good morning! It’s March 30 — here’s what’s going on in your community today…

Clouds and sun; not as warm in Scotts Valley

Today will be not as warm with intervals of clouds and sunshine. The high will be 75 with a low of 53. Wear your sunblock — the UV index is high (7/11). Allergy sufferers beware: there are very high amounts of tree pollen in the air. Partly sunny now, changing to intermittent clouds at 4 p.m.

Looking ahead: Expect showery weather tomorrow morning through tomorrow evening

Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • A traffic collision involving up to five vehicles, including a big rig, happened on northbound Highway 1 at Freedom Boulevard in Aptos. Two were reportedly speeding before the crash. Several vehicles had airbags deploy, and at least one had major front-end damage. All vehicles were moved to the right-hand shoulder. Emergency services, including fire and California Highway Patrol, responded to the scene.
  • South Highway 9 near Lorenzo Avenue in Ben Lomond has one-way traffic because of emergency work. This closure is scheduled to last until 3:59 p.m. on April 1.

Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Santa Cruz reports both those who have passed the inspections and those that the county deems to have a “major” issue. The county’s full ongoing report can be accessed here.
