Closures will occur between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. on select nights. Motorists on southbound Highway 17 will be directed to take the Ocean St. offramp and turn left on Plymouth St. to enter southbound Highway 1.

The connector ramp from southbound Highway 17 to southbound Highway 1 in Santa Cruz will be closed overnight Sunday through Thursday over the next four weeks.

The first overnight closure will take place Sunday, April 11, through Friday, April 16. The ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. on those nights.

Crews working for A. Teichert and Son Inc. will be constructing a retaining wall that will improve lines of sight for motorists, along with other improvements, Caltrans said Friday in a news release. In all, the project will cost $5.1 million.

Motorists on southbound Highway 17 will be directed to take the Ocean St. offramp and turn left on Plymouth St. to enter southbound Highway 1.

Here are the dates and times of the other closures after week one.

Week 2: Sunday, April 18, through Friday, April 23, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Week 3: Sunday, April 25, through Friday, April 30, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Week 4: Sunday, May 2, through Friday, May 7, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The connector ramp will be open on Fridays from 6 a.m. to Sundays at 10 p.m.
