Road incidents as of 9:30 p.m. on June 17

  • A hit and run incident occurred at the intersection of San Miguel Canyon Rd and Crg12 in Watsonville/Pajaro. No injuries were reported. The vehicle involved was identified by its license plate in lane 4. The incident was reported today.
     
  • A large branch was reported as a traffic hazard at the intersection of Tarpey Rd and San Juan Rd in Watsonville/Pajaro. The branch, measuring 15-20 feet, was partially blocking the right side of the road. The incident was first reported at 9:00 p.m. today, and CAL FIRE was contacted to clear it with a chainsaw. The last update was at 9:30 p.m.
     
  • Traffic cones have been set up on Green Valley Road between Freedom and Holohan Road in Watsonville and Pajaro. This setup will remain until July 11, with work happening 24/7. Emergency vehicles can pass through. Reported today.
     
  • There was a construction-related issue on Highway 1 North at the Bay Porter intersection in Capitola/Soquel. The California Highway Patrol assisted with the situation. This was reported today.
     
  • The southbound lanes of Highway 1 in Capitola/Soquel are facing closures for road excavation. This closure will continue until August 29 at 6:30 a.m.
     
  • There was a construction-related issue on Highway 1 North at the Freedom intersection in Aptos. The California Highway Patrol assisted with the situation. This was reported today.
     

Long-term projects

These have been going on for a while, but are still worth keeping in mind.

  • A single lane on Sims Road, between Brook Knoll Road and 600 La Madrona Drive, is closed for a pipeline project. The closure is in effect daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with traffic control measures in place.
     
  • Richmond Drive at Portola Drive and 24th Avenue in Eastside/Live Oak is closed due to the Rodeo pump station capacity upgrade project. Expect traffic delays and lane closures on Richmond and Portola Drive, weather permitting. Construction is scheduled for April 12-13 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
