Law enforcement officials are investigating what they say is the suspicious death of two people whose bodies were found in the Santa Cruz Mountains this week.

Andrew Barclay, a sergeant with California Highway Patrol Golden Gate Division, which is investigating the case, told Lookout on Wednesday that officers were called to the area of Highway 35 near Oak Ridge Road, south of Castle Rock State Park, at 6:53 p.m. Monday. There, they found two bodies inside of a truck.

Little is known about the circumstances surrounding the deaths, said Barclay, as there are no known witnesses of the incident. He said that the Santa Clara County coroner’s office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

Barclay said that, until the coroner provides more information, investigators are considering the incident “suspicious.” The Santa Clara County coroner’s office did not respond to a request for comment Wednesday afternoon.
