For months, businesses in Santa Cruz’s Seabright neighborhood have lamented Murray Street Bridge closures and the impact on their bottom lines. Now, UC Santa Cruz students are coming to their aid with a website called Explore Seabright & the Harbor

The website is part of a new marketing studio at the university designed to connect students with local community-based projects and offer hands-on experience in website development and social media management. The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Development at UCSC collaborated with the City of Santa Cruz on this inaugural project, a website serving as a central hub for local businesses, events and construction updates.

The CIED studio, developed with nonprofit program GetVirtual, directly connects student teams with community partners in project management, website development and social media campaigning.

“Working on this website for the Seabright community has been especially meaningful during the Murray Street Bridge closure,” said Sebi Perry, the project’s website developer. “I’m grateful to contribute to a project that helps local businesses stay visible and supported during this time.”
