HMPV pathogen detected in Santa Cruz
Human metapneumovirus, or HMPV, has been detected in City of Santa Cruz wastewater. HMPV is related to respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), produces similar respiratory symptoms to the flu or common cold, and is spread through contaminated surfaces, the air and person-to-person contact.

Three new candidates have entered the race for Santa Cruz mayor — Ami Chen Mills, Joy Schendledecker and Chris Krohn — all of whom have either previously held or run for office or have been politically active outside of elected office. Pescavore founder’s defense attorney moves to dismiss some charges; jury trial set for March 23
