The city of Scotts Valley is turning 60, and local taproom Steel Bonnet Brewing Company is creating a hazy IPA to commemorate the occasion.

But it wants help naming the beer – that’s where you come in. The idea is to come up with a witty name that relates and connects to Scotts Valley.

Here’s some local background to get you started: Scotts Valley was named after Hiram Daniel Scott, who purchased Rancho San Agustin, including the valley, in 1850 from Joseph Ladd Majors, according to the Scotts Valley Chamber of Commerce. The city was incorporated in 1966.

You can submit your beer name here. Five finalists will be announced during trivia night at 6:30 p.m., May 21, at the Steel Bonnet taproom, 20 Victor Square.

Appropriately enough – it is a taproom, after all – the winner will be decided  by cheers from the crowd.
