I am a native Santa Cruzan. Every day I feel grateful to call this beautiful place home. But many of the people I know — extended family, longtime friends, coworkers, neighbors —haven’t been as fortunate as I have. One by one, they’ve had to leave Santa Cruz because they could not shoulder the weight of exorbitant rent or a sky-high mortgage.
I want something better for current and future residents of the city of Santa Cruz. That is why I am voting yes on Measure C.
Measure C will generate millions of dollars annually for the City of Santa Cruz’s Affordable Housing Trust Fund. This funding will support the creation of affordable housing for the people who make our city run, including teachers, nurses, home health aides, grocery clerks and many others.
With Measure C, we have a chance to create affordable housing to help house our workforce.
