What concerns us as residents of Aptos is the incredible amount of money being wasted on ongoing rail studies and consultants like the Nebraska-based engineering consultant firm HDR. This project in no way shape or form pencils out.
The projected cost will increase by 4% every year because of escalation. It is starting to feel like the people pushing this concept are lining their pockets with taxpayer money and holding the running and bike path hostage.
When the feds deny funding and this project fails, how to we claw back all the wasted money thus far?
