It is with profound sorrow that we mourn the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk – a tireless defender of conservative principles, a fierce patriot and an electrifying voice for America’s youth. On Sept. 10 at Utah Valley University, this 31-year-old visionary was fatally shot in a cowardly act of political violence during his “American Comeback Tour,” leaving behind his devoted wife, Erika, their two young children, and a grieving nation inspired by his pursuit of truth and liberty.
In Santa Cruz County, where conservative values often face fierce opposition, Charlie ignited a spark of resilience. Through Turning Point USA, now thriving with chapters statewide, he empowered local students to confront leftist dominance on campuses, fostering bold activism aligned with the conservative pillars of educational freedom and entrepreneurial spirit. His Bay Area visits rallied Santa Cruz conservatives, amplifying calls for free speech, faith and national renewal.
This heinous attack strikes not just Charlie, but the core of our shared ideals: unfettered expression, personal sovereignty and fearless dissent. In our hostile local landscape, his message fortified us to persist amid adversity.
We pledge to perpetuate his free speech legacy – unbowed, unsilenced. Our fight for America’s soul endures in Santa Cruz and beyond. Prayers to Erika, the children, the Kirk family and Turning Point’s young trailblazers. May God welcome Charlie into eternal peace, his indomitable ideas lighting our path to the Republican vision of prosperity and pride.
Rest in power, Charlie – your battle is ours.
