The National Weather Service has lifted a flood advisory for all of Santa Cruz County as rain showers tapered off Monday night.

The agency first issued the advisory, warning that mall streams may flood due to excessive rainfall. at 4:21 p.m. Monday for much of the county north of Felton. By 7:50 p.m., the entire county was under a flood advisory.

But as of 11:30 p.m., the agency said the risk of flooding had gone down. However, it warned that there was still a chance of rain across the wider Bay Area, with showers lingering through the night and some heavy rain in places that could cause pools of water to build up on roadways.

A special weather statement for small hail was earlier in effect, but was lifted at 5 p.m.

Television station KSBW cited reports of a tornado possibly touching down on an organic farm in Pescadero in San Mateo County.

A flood advisory is when flooding is not anticipated to be serious, but could cause inconvenience. Drivers should avoid roads that are collecting water, and if in doubt, turn around to avoid getting stuck in deep water.

The wet weather system is expected to hover over the region through late Wednesday, bringing a total of as much as 2.5 inches of rain to lower county elevations and up to 3.5 inches in the mountains.
