Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region
- The southbound Highway 1 off-ramp at Bay Avenue in Capitola is scheduled to be closed for approximately four months as crews reconstruct the ramp as part of the bus-on-shoulder facility. The closure began on Aug. 2.
- The on-ramp from Park Avenue to southbound Highway 1 is facing closures because of paving work. The closure is expected to last until Nov. 19.
Property development
- The Santa Cruz County Planning Department has formally approved a zoning application for a residential project at 2861 South Palisades Ave. The approved plans call for a 498-square-foot addition to the existing two-story single-family home, bringing the total floor area to 1,294 square feet. The expansion will add a new bedroom, bathroom, and laundry area, as well as a first-story rooftop deck with exterior stairs. Two existing sheds on the property will be recognized and relocated as part of the project. The property will not include a garage but will maintain two uncovered parking spaces. The maximum height of the new structure will be approximately 14 feet, 3 inches. The project required and received a Coastal Development Permit. (view application)
