Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region
- Highway 9 at Pool Drive will have alternating lane closures in both directions because of bridge work. This is expected to continue until April 30, 2027.
- Daytime and overnight one-way reversing traffic control will continue on Highway 9 at the San Lorenzo River and Kings Creek bridges from Monday through Friday this week due to ongoing bridge replacement work.
Property development
- The Santa Cruz County Planning Department is accepting public comments through Oct. 7 on a zoning application for a proposed project at 15015 Two Bar Rd. The project includes constructing retaining walls between 3 and 9 feet high to support new driveway access, along with grading, drainage improvements, and an over-height fence that requires a Site Development Permit. Planned work involves about 60 cubic yards of earth cut and 48 cubic yards of fill, installation of stormwater management features such as catch basins, concrete swales, and rock-lined drainage channels, as well as erosion control measures. The retaining walls will use steel soldier piles with wood or concrete lagging and will include subdrain systems for water management. The project is designed to comply with all relevant building, fire, and environmental codes, and will implement best management practices for stormwater, erosion, and construction site management. The Felton Farmers Market is the second-oldest market in Santa Cruz County.
