Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • South Highway 9 at Lorenzo Avenue in San Lorenzo Valley has one lane closed for emergency work. Traffic is being controlled in one direction at a time. The closure is expected to end at 3:59 p.m. on April 1.
     

Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Santa Cruz reports both those who have passed the inspections and those that the county deems to have a “major” issue. The county’s full ongoing report can be accessed here.

  • Cilantro’s Parrilla & Cantina at 1934 Main St., Watsonville, passed a county health inspection on January 27 with no critical issues.
     

Community crime report

  • A person with several local warrants was cited and released by police for a misdemeanor bench warrant. The incident happened near the 1400 Block of Main St., Watsonville at 2 a.m. on January 28. (source)
     
  • A male juvenile was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant and taken to juvenile hall. The incident happened near the 200 Block of Union St., Watsonville. It occurred at 1 a.m. on January 28. (source)
     
  • A person was arrested for having illegal drug paraphernalia. The incident happened near the 100 Block of Alta Vista Dr, Watsonville, at 1 a.m. on January 28. The person was given a citation and released at the scene. (source)
     
  • A person violated a court order meant to protect his brother. Police did not find the person. This happened near the 700 Block of Rodriguez St., Watsonville at 4 p.m. on January 27. (source)
     
  • A person was arrested for disobeying a court order, which is a misdemeanor. The incident happened near the 1900 Block of Freedom Blvd. in Watsonville at 1 p.m. on January 27. The person was taken to the Santa Cruz County Jail. (source)
     
  • A theft of personal property happened when someone stole clothing from a laundromat at an apartment complex. This occurred near the 100 Block of Quiet Meadow Dr, Watsonville, at 8 p.m. on January 26. A report was filed, but the case was closed because there were no leads. (source)
