Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Santa Cruz reports both those who have passed the inspections and those that the county deems to have a “major” issue. The county’s full ongoing report can be accessed here.

  • Sushi Mori at 429 Front St., Suite A, Santa Cruz, was cited for high-risk violations of improper food temperatures, improper food preparation or handling, inadequate employee hygiene or training and unapproved food sources or contaminated food and low-risk violations of inadequate hand-washing procedures, inadequate employee hygiene or training, improper food temperatures, inadequate washing of utensils or equipment, infestation of rodents or insects, improper food preparation or handling and unapproved food sources or contaminated food during a county health inspection on March 18. The issues were resolved during the inspection.
     
  • Las Palmas Taco Bar 55, Inc. at 55 Front St., Santa Cruz, passed a county health inspection on March 19 with no critical issues.
     
  • Santa Cruz Dream Inn at 175 W. Cliff Dr., Santa Cruz, passed a county health inspection on March 19 with no critical issues.
     
  • Ideal Bar And Grill at 106 Beach St., Santa Cruz, was cited for high-risk violations of improper food temperatures, inadequate employee hygiene or training, unapproved food sources or contaminated food and improper food preparation or handling and low-risk violations of unapproved food sources or contaminated food, inadequate employee hygiene or training, improper food preparation or handling, inadequate washing of utensils or equipment, inadequate hand-washing procedures, infestation of rodents or insects and improper food temperatures during a county health inspection on March 20. The issues were resolved during the inspection.

  • A man was arrested for being under the influence of drugs in public. The incident happened near W. Cliff Drive & Columbia Street, Santa Cruz. at 10 p.m. on March 31. (source)
