Photo essay: A peek at the Watsonville Strawberry Festival
Lookout photojournalist Kevin Painchaud was on hand to capture the start of the Watsonville Strawberry Festival.
The Watsonville Strawberry Festival turned the city’s downtown into a berry-infused carnival Friday, the first day of the three-day annual event.
Lookout photojournalist Kevin Painchaud took in the rides and food vendors offering unconventional takes on the region’s signature crop — from strawberry pizza to berry-spiked beer. Festivalgoers moved between tented stalls along Main and Lincoln streets, sampling local fare and dancing to live music in the Civic Plaza.
The free festival continues through Sunday.
