Santa Cruz County is seeking community opinions as it updates its Hazard Mitigation Plan to reduce losses from natural disasters. The plan aims to identify and minimize vulnerabilities across county residents and infrastructure.

Interested members of the community are encouraged to attend a natural disaster preparedness event in English or Spanish, visit the county’s online guide to disaster mitigation, and to take the county’s public survey.

Upcoming community events

  • ¡No temas al fuego! Entrenamiento GRATUITO de Preparación para Incendios Forestales / Free Wildfire Preparedness Training (Spanish): Saturday, March 29, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Pajaro Middle School, 250 Salinas Rd., Pajaro

  • Watsonville Earth Day 2025 Celebration: Sunday, April 27, noon-3 p.m., Watsonville Plaza, 358 Main Street, Watsonville
