The entire length of Highway 9 will be affected by road closures this week for a vegetation control project. While the project, which runs through Friday, spans the entirety of the highway, crews will be focused on an area north of Boulder Creek from Juanita Woods Road to just north of the Waterman Gap, Caltrans said.

In an information session Wednesday evening, the Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission and engineering consultant firm HDR, Inc. recommended replacing 28 of 33 rail bridges in Santa Cruz County — an effort they estimate could cost $980 million. The agencies will determine a more exact figure moving forward in preparation for the RTC’s passenger rail project concept report, expected in the fall.

Highway 1 construction will mean ramp and lane closures this week
Daytime ramp closures and overnight lane closures are planned this week as construction continues on a project to add north and southbound auxiliary lanes and bus-on-shoulder improvements on Highway 1 between the 41st Avenue and Soquel Drive interchanges and construct of a new bicycle and pedestrian overcrossing at Chanticleer Avenue in Santa Cruz.
Tree removal will close northbound lane on Highway 17
Tree removal work will result in daytime closures of one lane of northbound Highway 17 in Santa Cruz next week. Starting Monday, Nov. 4, and continuing through Thursday, Nov. 7, travelers will encounter a closure of the right lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. between Pasatiempo Drive and La Madrona Drive.
