A stretch of Highway 9 in Felton will be closed during the day in both directions Monday through Friday, Oct. 21 through 25. The closure will run from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. from 1 mile north of Highway 9’s junction with Highway 1 to Glengarry Road in Felton, in the area of Paradise Park and Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park.

Aptos man dies in solo crash on Highway 1
A 44-year-old Aptos man died in a single-vehicle crash Sunday night on southbound Highway 1 after crashing into a dirt embankment, according to state officers.

Stretch of southbound Highway 1 will close Monday night
Southbound Highway 1 will close at Park Avenue from 11 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, to 6 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, to accommodate work on north and southbound auxiliary lanes and bus-on-shoulder improvements between the Bay Avenue/Porter Street and State Park Drive interchanges.

Santa Cruz County’s Department of Community Development & Infrastructure has launched a new dashboard for tracking and seeing the progress of repairs to county-maintained roads that have been damaged by severe storms over the past nine years.

The Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation is seeking new members to serve on its Elderly and Disabled Transportation Advisory Committee. Any Santa Cruz County resident who is age 60-plus, a paratransit rider, lives with a disability or represents services for seniors and people with disabilities is eligible.
Ironman 70.3 Santa Cruz triathlon draws 2,200 from 33 countries
More than 2,200 athletes from 33 countries and 41 U.S. states competed Saturday in the Ironman 70.3 Santa Cruz triathlon. Sebastian Radilla, representing Mexico, won the men’s competition with a finish time of 4:01:30, while Serena Xue, representing Canada, won the women’s race with a time of 4:47:22.
Sarah Christensen will lead Regional Transportation Commission
The Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission has a new executive director — Sarah Christensen, a senior transportation engineer at the agency. Christensen will enter into a three-year contract with the RTC and will report directly to the board of directors. She will start on Monday.
Delays on Highway 1 likely Sept. 3-5 for pedestrian bridge work
Motorists will experience overnight delays of up to 10 minutes on a section of Highway 1 in Santa Cruz Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 3-5, as work continues on a new pedestrian bridge. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., a single lane of both northbound and southbound Highway 1 will be closed between 41st Avenue and Soquel Drive.
Metro offers free rides, ticket discounts to Santa Cruz County Fair
The Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District will offer free Metro fares and discounted tickets to the Santa Cruz County Fair at the Watsonville Fairgrounds Sept. 11-15.
