Property code violations

County officials cite property owners for issues such as substandard housing, illegal uses of buildings, property maintenance, abandoned appliances or furniture, construction without permits, and other issues that affect public safety and quality of life.

  • The property at 1031 Amesti Rd., Watsonville, was cited for building code violations under case number NV24944, with the case processed on July 26, 2023, and reaching the “Notice and Order” milestone. While the specific details of the violations have not been disclosed, the “Notice and Order” status means the property owner was formally notified and required to address the issues to comply with building codes. County officials have confirmed that the cited violations have now been addressed, and they are continuing to monitor the property to ensure ongoing compliance.
     
  • The property at 1049 Amesti Rd., Watsonville, was cited for building code violations under case number NV24943 after a structure on the site was found collapsing down a hillside. This dangerous situation led to a Notice and Order being issued on July 26, 2023, due to significant structural deterioration and associated safety risks. The case required immediate attention from both a geologist and a building inspector. County officials have now confirmed that the violation has been addressed, and they are actively monitoring the property to ensure ongoing compliance.
     

Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • Alternating lanes are closed on north Highway 1 at State Park Drive in Aptos because of bridge work. The closure is expected to end at 4:59 a.m. tomorrow.
