Hi friends,

Just heard that my old friend and longtime Santa Cruz media icon Bruce Bratton has passed away. Over the years, Bruce probably had a byline in every newspaper printed in Santa Cruz, before finding his stride in his Bratton Online column. The story of post-Sixties Santa Cruz can’t be completely told without him. Raise a drink tonight to Bruce.

Now, on with the show.

Tennessee singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Valerie June brings so many forms of American music together for a unique style all her own. Her itinerary brings her to Santa Cruz at The Rio on June 17. The twang-rockers known as the Old 97’s play the Felton Music Hall on April 5. The Bee Gees tribute act You Should Be Dancing brings the disco era to the Rio on March 15. The inventive Venezuelan band Los Amigos Invisibles are coming to Moe’s Alley on April 6. The experimental punk band The Garden visits The Catalyst on March 7.

Be sure to check out Lookout’s carefully curated and constantly updated planning guide, Down the Line, for the staggering riches and amazing choices awaiting Santa Cruz audiences. It’s our look ahead at the best shows, concerts and events through the rest of the year at clubs, stages and venues all over the county.
