The anticipation is building as the date for the United In Purpose Celebration & Awards draws near. Scheduled for April 26th, the event promises an evening brimming with appreciation and recognition at the stylish Hotel Paradox.
The occasion, dedicated to applauding those who have played a pivotal role in supporting youth and fostering community growth, will feature a delicious dinner amidst an atmosphere of camaraderie and achievement.
Formerly known as the Community Builder Awards, United Way of Santa Cruz County shifted to hosting an evening Awards Ceremony where community members, families, and youth can come together to celebrate.
Kicking off at 6:30 PM, attendees will be welcomed with a lively reception. Shortly after, the spotlight will shift to the Awards Presentation & Dinner. During this segment, notable contributors will be lauded for their significant impact and dedication.
The Awardees for this year are from various organizations and sectors across the county:
- Lifetime Achievement Award – Fernando Giraldo, Chief of Santa Cruz County Probation & United Way Board President
- Volunteer Champion Award- Robert Terrance, Longtime United Way Volunteer and Champion for Santa Cruz County
- Community Spirit Award- Santa Cruz Warriors
- Partner of the Year Award – Community Health Trust of Pajaro Valley
- Employee Campaign Manager Awards – Susan Riddle, Bay Federal Credit Union
- Women in Philanthropy Award – Theresa Cariño, Salud y Cariño
- Emerging Leader Award- Marlize Velasco from the Emerging Leaders Circle
- Youth Leader of the Year Awards – Lizbeth Garcia from Jóvenes Sanos and Omar Delgado from the Youth Action Network and Empower Watsonville
- Youth Champion of the Year Award – Nick Merolla, City of Watsonville Youth Center
- United In Purpose Award – David Lyng Real Estate
Following the awards, the festivities will continue with an invitation to dance and celebrate in the joyous ambiance, accompanied by music by local DJ, DJ Big D, until 8:30 PM.
